The Association of Liberian Journalists in the Americas (ALJA) is preparing to host its 13th National Convention, scheduled from Thursday, October 16th, to Sunday, October 19th, 2025, in Greenbelt, Maryland. The convention promises to be a significant gathering of media professionals, government officials, and stakeholders interested in the economic development of Liberia.
The central theme for this year's convention is: "Private Sector Investment: A Key to Sustainable Economic Growth and Development in Liberia - The Role of the Media." ALJA emphasizes the critical role of private sector investment as a driving force for Liberia's long-term economic prosperity. The organization believes that with the right policies and a supportive business environment, Liberia can fully utilize the potential of private enterprise to build a self-reliant and thriving future.
The convention will delve into how a strong and inclusive private sector can effectively address issues such as unemployment, infrastructure improvement, and poverty reduction in Liberia. At the conclusion of the convention, a resolution outlining recommendations on these vital issues will be adopted and released.
A highlight of the convention will be the Annual Benefit Banquet and Inaugural Ceremony, scheduled for Saturday, October 18th, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. The event will take place at Martin's Crosswinds, located at 7400 Greenway Center Drive, Greenbelt, Maryland. Liberia's Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan, is slated to deliver the Keynote Address.
