Two people have died in France and Spain after floods, landslides and wildfires brought disruption to swathes of Europe.
A 55-year-old woman was found dead in her car in the Guingamp area of France on Monday morning, trapped on her way to work, the Côtes-d'Armor prefecture said.
Côtes-d'Armor, in the north west, remained on an orange alert, with the Plouha area experiencing more than 150mm of rainfall between 12pm Sunday and 6am Monday.
Bouches-du-Rhône, Marseille's department in the south east on France, was placed on yellow alert for rain and floods today as a Mediterranean storm swept through.
At least one person died in Spain's Catalonia on Sunday after much of the region was hit by torrential rains.
Firefighters found a body in a river while searching for two people whose car had reportedly been swept away during floods.
Rescuers also recovered 27 people who were trapped at the Sant Joan funicular at the Montserrat Monastery near Barcelona following a landslide.
Dozens of flights to and from Barcelona airport, Spain's second-busiest, were either delayed or cancelled because of the rain.
Firefighters in Galicia meanwhile battled two wildfires on Saturday with support from the military, after fires fuelled by dry conditions broke out on Thursday.
Italy was braced for severe weather in the north on Monday, with 30mm of rain falling in the northern part of Milan overnight, and 80mm in Paderno Dugnano and Seveso.



In France, six departments were placed on orange alert for rain and flooding into Monday morning.
Parts of the Atlantic coast were still on a yellow 'be careful' warning on Monday, in effect until midnight. Thunderstorms were expected in the south.
In Côtes-d'Armor, in the north west, a woman was found dead in her car early this morning.
The departmental prefecture told Le Parisien she had been swept away by flood waters in the commune of Ploumagoar on her way to work.
Firefighters in the region had received 1,500 calls and responded to 'more than 400' incidents related to the bad weather.
In the east, more than a dozen departments were still subject to yellow warnings for 'rain-flood' on Monday.
Video shared on social media showed parts of the country, especially on the Mediterranean coast, submerged in flood water during an intense storm.
Nearly a dozen flights in and out of Marseille-Provence Airport alone were disrupted between 5.30pm and 7.30pm due to weather conditions on Sunday.
Those travelling from Manchester and Venice had to be diverted to alternative airports in Montpellier, Nice and Lyon, a spokesperson for the Marseille airport said.
Vascluse, in the south east, saw trains interrupted between Miramas and Avignon to account for the weather.
Some 115mm of cumulative rainfall were recorded in the municipalities of Avignon, Morieres and Vedene.
Homes were left without power in Avignon, Carpentras, and Sarrians, the Vaucluse prefecture said.
By Sunday afternoon, some 10,000 homes were left without power in Vaucluse and Bouches-du-Rhône, in the south. The figure was coming down by the evening.
In Bouches-du-Rhône alone firefighters had been called in to assist 250 times by Sunday. They reported no casualties.
A football match between Olympique de Marseille and Paris Saint-Germain had to be postponed due to the weather.
Rognac, a commune near Marseille, said that all schools in the region would be closed on Monday following floods.



Spain, meanwhile, was rocked by flooding, a landslide and wildfires in the north of the country.
Firefighters in Catalonia, in the north west, found a body in a river in Sant Pere de Riudebitlles while searching for two people whose car was reportedly swept away.
'The authorities are investigating whether it belongs to one of the individuals sought in the ongoing search, or if it is the victim of an unrelated incident,' they added on X.
The regional civil protection service said firefighters also had to recover 27 people trapped on a funicular at the Montserrat Monastery after a landslide.
The Parc Natural de la Muntanya de Montserrat on Sunday shared footage of muddy waterfalls cascading down the hillside onto the path to the Santa Cova.
They reported 115mm of rainfall at the Sant Dimes meteorological station.
Firefighters were trying to evacuate 14 hikers on the Sant Benet trail, nine of whom sheltered in the Santa Cova, and five more in the Bruc area.
Commuter rail service around Barcelona was temporarily stopped on some routes due to landslides and fallen trees.
National weather office AEMET said rainfall of up to 40 litres per square metre (nearly one gallon per square foot) fell in just 30 minutes in some parts of Catalonia.
Last October, torrential rains sparked devastating floods in the eastern province of Valencia, killing 225 people and causing widespread destruction.
Because a warmer atmosphere holds more water, climate change increases the risk and intensity of flooding from extreme rainfall, according to experts.



Across the country, firefighters battled two fires in Galicia on Saturday.
In Lugo province, 82 brigades and 25 water bombers were fighting a fire that broke out on Thursday, destroying some 1,400 hectares of land, local officials said.
Dozens of people had to be evacuated on Friday, but were mostly returned to their homes over the weekend.
Spain and Portugal were rocked by devastating wildfires through the summer, killing four people in each country and burning some 580,000 hectares of land in total.
Italy was preparing for heavy rainfall and flooding on Monday, with orange alerts issued in northern Lombardy and Liguria.
The Civil Protection Department of the City of Milan said around 10am local time today that the Seveso River was flooding.
They advised residents to avoid underground spaces and elevators, to limit phone use to keep lines free, and not to go outside.
The Vigili del Fuoco said firefighters had been called out more than 70 times in Como, Monza and Varese.
The 'main issues', they reported, were landslides and flooding. A motorist was rescued in a flooding underpass in Turate this morning, they said.


Marco Granelli, the City of Milan's Civil Protection Councillor, reported 30mm of rain had fallen in Milan, urging residents to exercise 'maximum caution'.
Mobile barriers were set up in the Ponte Lambro neighbourhood north of Milan early this morning as a precaution, he said.
Storms were expected to continue through the morning.
Trains in the city were to be closed from 8.45am, while buses were diverted to avoid a demonstration calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
Eighty cities across Italy were expected to be affected by the demonstrations, La Repubblica reported this morning.
Schools were closed throughout most of Liguria for the orange alert for thunderstorms, the ANSA news agency reported.
