John Bolton’s neighbor needled the former Trump adviser as FBI agents descended on his home.
The ex-Trump aide had his D.C.-area home in Bethesda, Maryland, raided by FBI agents on Friday morning as part of a national security investigation.
Agents were seen by the Daily Mail transferring boxes to and from Bolton’s home as a horde of press watched from the sidelines.
Bolton has been a longtime critic of President Donald Trump after being fired from the administration during Trump’s first-term.
The Daily Mail spoke with one of Bolton’s self-described ‘nosey’ neighbors outside his home on Friday morning.
As agents ransacked the house, the neighbor, who goes by the name Holly, said maybe this would not have happened if Bolton turned against Trump years earlier.
She called the raid ‘disruptive’ to the neighborhood while also claiming the FBI is being ‘politicized’ against Trump’s enemies.
‘However, I will say, if he would have testified in the first impeachment hearing, maybe we wouldn’t be here,’ Holly told the Daily Mail while grinning.
‘There’s a little bit of karma also.’
The Friday morning FBI raid on Bolton’s house was quickly surrounded by members of the press along with some anti-Trump demonstrators.
Following Trump’s first impeachment, Bolton famously refused to testify during the House hearing.
House Democrats sought Bolton’s testimony, but he declined to appear and vowed to oppose a subpoena via his legal team.
Bolton said he would not testify about conversations he had with the president because Trump’s White House at the time did not authorize him to do so.
However, Bolton changed his position after Trump was indicted by the Democrat-led House.
Bolton told the Republican-led Senate he would be willing to testify in the impeachment trial if he was subpoenaed.
Senate Republicans declined to hear witnesses at the time and cleared Trump of all charges.
Bolton has not emerged from his house since the FBI raid and his whereabouts are not known at this time.
The Daily Mail witnessed FBI agents reposition a vehicle against Bolton’s garage minutes ago.
'NO ONE is above the law… FBI agents on mission,' FBI Director Kash Patel wrote in a post to X amid the raid on Bolton's home.
The raid is part of an FBI probe into Bolton for his alleged handling of classified documents while writing his 2020 book The Room Where It Happened.
The investigation was first started in 2020 and continued during President Joe Biden's administration but was closed for 'political reasons,' a source in the administration told the Daily Mail.
However, the FBI under the leadership of Kash Patel relaunched the investigation in 2025.
Trump claimed he was not aware the raid was taking place on Friday and added that Attorney General Pam Bondi would brief him on the matter later today.
Bolton had his security clearance stripped from him by National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard once details of the investigation came to light.
