The launching of the second edition of the MediaVerse 2025, by students of the Department of Mass Communication at the University of Karachi, was successfully held at the Karachi University Business School auditorium on Tuesday. Speaking at the event, the KU's Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Khalid Mahmood Iraqi emphasized that in today's world, bookish knowledge alone is not enough, it must be tested in the real world.

He called MediaVerse a shining example of how dreams can be transformed into purpose. He urged that education should not be confined to the classroom. Teachers must guide, and students should be encouraged to create, to question, and to recognize our own heroes, so that Pakistan's future shines brighter.

Addressing the students, the KU VC Professor Dr Khalid Iraqi reminded them that challenges are a constant in life, and adapting to them is essential. He advised that to succeed today, you must refine your skills and prove yourself through action. He elaborated that PR stands for Performance and then Recognition, so, if you want to be recognized in the world, you must first perform. He urged students to spend their time seeking knowledge, applying it, and engaging with the real world-because the real world is very different from the classroom. 'We must use our time creatively, with the belief that the right time to do the right thing is always now.'

The KU VC Professor Dr Khalid Iraqi praised MediaVerse as a platform that empowers students to express themselves. 'It's a medium, a manifestation of creativity, and a message of change.' On this occasion, the Chairperson KU's MCD Professor Dr Asmat Ara stated that MediaVerse has become the signature initiative of the department. 'What began as an academic idea has evolved into a platform that connects students with the media industry.'

She observed that it has given our department the recognition it deserves and opened doors to internships and valuable opportunities for our students. Earlier, Founder and Editor of MediaVerse, Syeda Muna Batool Taqvi, shared that the second edition of the program was designed to bring together key figures from media, politics, business, and education on a single platform-to explore how communication can drive positive social change in a rapidly evolving world. The event was entirely student-organized under her supervision, and served as a bridge between academic and professional media. It gave students another opportunity to apply their creative and journalistic skills to real-world issues.

This year's edition stood out for its strong focus on diversity, inclusion, and accessibility. In collaboration with ConnectHear, live sign language interpretation was provided throughout the event, ensuring participation for the deaf and hard-of-hearing community. Meanwhile, Boltay Huroof contributed by producing Braille versions of certificates, invitations, and agendas, a first for university-led media initiatives in Karachi.

A representative from ConnectHear shared, 'Accessibility in media spaces is not charity; it's progress. MediaVerse 2025 set an example that every public event should follow.'

The event stood as a fully student-led platform that connects education with practical impact. This year marked a major milestone with the signing of an MoU and the announcement of a scholarship program worth PKR 20 million for the students at KU's MCD.

The highlight of MediaVerse 2025 was the Panel Battle, hosted by Ghazi Taimoor, featuring speakers Sidra Iqbal, Maysam Naqvi, Amber Shamsi, and Kareem Teli.

Ghazi Taimoor remarked that when communication comes from the heart, it can spark change. The right words lead to understanding and action. When we speak with truth, people truly listen.

The Creative Head of the MediaVerse Waqar Hussain highlighted that through MediaVerse for Change, this year's edition spotlighted often-overlooked issues and created real opportunities for students-be it scholarships or internships.
