London North Eastern Railway (LNER), a prominent train company connecting London and Edinburgh while serving numerous key cities along its route, confirmed that a third-party supplier responsible for managing its customer communication database experienced a significant "security incident" on September 8, 2025.

The incident resulted in unauthorized access to customer data by an external party. Impacted customers were notified via email beginning October 15th, detailing the nature of the breach and potential consequences.

However, LNER has assured customers that sensitive information such as payment card details and passwords were not affected during the breach.
