Dhaka, November 21 -- An earthquake of magnitude that hit Dhaka and various other areas of the country on Friday morning increased to 10.

Among them, four lost their lives in Dhaka, five in Narsingdi district, the heart of the earthquake, and one in Narayanganj.

Thirteen individuals were hurt when a building's railing gave way on them in the Koshaituli region of Armanitola, according to Mallik Ahsan Uddin Sami, deputy commissioner of the DMP's Lalbagh Division.

They were brought to Sir Salimullah Medical College (Mitford) Hospital, where doctors confirmed the death of three individuals upon their arrival, according to Shahjahan Sikder, deputy assistant director of the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) headquarters media cell.

The deceased included Abdur Rahim, aged 47, his son Abdul Aziz Rimon, and medical student Rafiul Islam Rafi.

The injured who are still alive are being treated at the hospital, he added.

In addition, at least 18 individuals were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) from various areas of the capital after the earthquake.

Md Faruk, who is responsible for the DMCH police post, stated that the injured are receiving care in the Emergency Department and cautioned that the death count might increase.

In the meantime, various fire service teams in Dhaka and surrounding regions addressed a number of structural alarm reports and small incidents.

In the Kasaituli neighborhood of Armanitola, bricks and plaster collapsed from the wall and cornice of an eight-story building located above a beef shop, causing injuries to customers and pedestrians.

Residents quickly transported the injured to Mitford Hospital before firefighters arrived.

In Khilgaon, a person walking by sustained injuries after a brick dropped from a building under construction landed on a nearby two-story building.

Residents helped the injured person, and fire department officials stated that no action was needed.

Two fire units from Baridhara Fire Station were sent to the scene following a fire that occurred at a house in Block-F, Road-5. The reason for the fire remains undetermined.

Accounts of slanted structures were also reported from Swamibagh in Sutrapur and Abedkhali Road in Kalabagan, leading to additional unit reinforcements.

Later officials verified that the buildings remained undamaged, noting that locals had sounded the alert due to anxiety.

Reports of casualties and injuries also emerged from various other areas, such as Gazipur and Narsingdi.

Five individuals, among them a minor, lost their lives and many others were wounded in an earthquake that struck Narsingdi Sadar, Palash, and Shibpur upazilas on Friday morning.

The deceased were Kazam Ali, 70, from Malita village, and Nasir Uddin, 50, from Danga village, both under Palash upazila. Nasir Uddin, 50, was also from the same village. Omar Faruk, 10, son of Delwar Hossain Ujjal, was from the Gabtali area in Sadar upazila, and Forkan Mia, 40, was from Achhkina village under Shibpur upazila.

Among them, Kazam was killed instantly when a wall fell on him while he was sleeping in his bed at home during the earthquake, according to family members.

Monir Hossain, the officer-in-charge of Palash Police Station, stated that Nasir suffered a cardiac arrest while running after exiting his house during the earthquake.

Omar and his father Ujjal suffered serious injuries after a wall fell on them in the Gabtali region.

They were quickly taken to DMCH, where doctors confirmed Omar's death upon arrival, according to Md Faruk, who is in charge of the hospital's police camp.

Omar attended a Hefz madrasa in the region.

The father, who works as an office assistant at the National Housing Authority, is receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit at DMCH. Omar's body is being kept at the hospital's morgue, according to Md Faruk.

Additionally, Forkan sustained severe injuries when he fell from a tree while pruning its branches during the earthquake.

At first, he was taken to the Sadar hospital in the district, but he died while being transported to Dhaka, said Shibpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Farzana Yeasmin.

Over 100 additional individuals were hurt in Narsingdi, with many sustaining injuries as they hurried out of their houses, according to eyewitnesses.

A one-year-old girl lost her life, and two women, including her mother, were injured when a wall collapsed during an earthquake in Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj.

Deceased Fatema was the daughter of Abdul Haque from Islambagh village, part of Golakandail Union.

As per local reports, Fatema's mother, Kulsum Begum, was carrying the child along the road when earthquakes started around 10:38am. When they arrived at the Islambagh canal No-5 area, a nearby wall collapsed suddenly, hitting them and resulting in Fatema's immediate death.

People hurried to the location and retrieved the child's body from under the wreckage.

Kulsum Begum and another woman, Jesmin Begum, were injured and taken to a nearby hospital for medical care, according to Mokhlesur Rahman, an inspector at the Bhulta police station.

They are being treated at Narsingdi Sadar Hospital, as stated by Resident Medical Officer Farida Parvin.

In Gazipur, more than a hundred textile workers were hurt while they rushed down from various factories in Tongi, Gazipur Sadar, and Sreepur during the earthquake.

Officials have now shut down the factories to manage the circumstances.
