The Ghana Police Service, in collaboration with the National Signals Bureau (NSB), has arrested a man named Samuel Amadotor for reportedly spreading misleading information regarding a well-known traditional leader.

At the heart of the release is a group of blackmailers who requested payment before the videos posted on Facebook and Instagram were taken down.

The blogger, who serves as the editor of Dklassgh.com, a social media website, was arrested following the release of parts of the Number 12 investigative film by journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, which was filmed in Dubai.

Bloggers requested payment after being approached and questioned regarding their motivation for releasing the video, which resulted in the dismissal of then State Minister Charles Adu Boahen from Akufo-Addo's administration, followed by his investigation by the Office of the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyabeng.

The Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) issued a statement confirming that the suspect, Samuel Amadotor, was arrested after a report was filed by Okatakye Boakye Danquah Ababio I, a lawyer based in Accra.

The individual who filed the complaint alleged that Amadotor intentionally spread misleading details regarding him.

As per the police, the suspect confessed during questioning that he was responsible for the publication.

He is also reported to have identified Chairman Michael Yeboah as the person who is alleged to have hired him to create and distribute the false material.

Authorities mention that steps are being taken to locate Yeboah in order to support the continuing inquiry.

Amadotor is currently being held by the police and is set to appear in court today, November 21, 2025.

The declaration was endorsed by Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, the Public Relations Officer of the CID.

Amedetor was detained early Friday morning and transported to the Signals Bureau, where he was mainly interrogated regarding a video he had uploaded and subsequently deleted from his blog.

The video clip was part of the Number 12 investigation and reportedly included the former Chairperson of the National Communications Authority (NCA).

The Herald has been told that Amedetor and another blogger were freed around 11 pm on the same Friday and instructed to go back to the Signals Bureau on the following Tuesday.

However, when they reported as instructed, the Signals Bureau handed him over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), which then moved him to the Ministry Police Station, where he has been held in detention.

The Special Prosecutor's Office, in October 2023, exonerated former Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance, Charles Adu Boahen, from charges of corruption and associated violations following the release of video evidence.

The OSP therefore directed the termination of the inquiry into Mr. Adu Boahen regarding claims of corruption and associated charges mentioned in the Investigative Documentary, titled Galamsey Economy, by Tiger Eye P.1.

In a report regarding the inquiry, the OSP mentioned that it could be reopened if the situation and additional information justify it.

The OSP states that, during the meeting, Mr Adu Boahen thought he was interacting with a genuine opportunity involving a real investment plan, and thus his actions constituted the trading of influence or influence peddling, which is strongly linked to corruption.

However, the OSP determines that there is no legal restriction on lobbying and thus chooses to terminate the inquiry.

The OSP supports the implementation of the Corrupt Practices Act to completely ban all forms of corruption. It also calls for the swift adoption of a Public Officers Conduct Act to effectively regulate the conduct of public officials.

The OSP mentioned that although former Minister of State at the Finance Ministry, Charles Adu Boahen, engaged in trading influence, it cannot bring charges against him since influence peddling is not recognized as a specific corruption offense in Ghana.

According to the OSP, this is due to the Office being required to examine only cases of corruption and offenses related to it. As a result, the office has urged the enactment of a Corrupt Practices Act to thoroughly outline the ban on all types of corruption.

The Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, in his report released on 30 October 2023, indicated that the Attorney-General is capable of dealing with the alleged offenses. He also declared the end of the inquiry regarding the accusations against the former government official.

According to this assessment, the Special Prosecutor is directing the closing of the investigation at this moment regarding allegations of corruption and related offenses involving Charles Adu Boahen, as outlined in the investigative documentary called Galamsey Economy produced by Tiger Eye P.I. The inquiry could be reopened if the situation and additional information require it.

This happened several months after President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo requested the OSP to look into the claims against Mr. Adu Boahen in the documentary called 'Galamsey Economy,' created by investigative reporter Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

As per Tiger Eye PI's findings, Mr. Boahen informed undercover reporters that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia might receive $200,000 as a speaking fee from investors. The President then terminated his position, and the issue was sent to the OSP for further examination.

On 16 November 2022, Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng mentioned that his team had quickly initiated an inquiry into Mr. Adu Boahen's conduct and plans to release a report detailing the results.
