"Ever since she was a child, she has struggled with epilepsy. A week ago, she was with her mother. When her mother fell asleep at night, Cherotich seized the opportunity and fled. The news left Cherotich's family devastated, as they had been hoping to discover her alive and take her back home.
A relative described the final moments of the 41-year-old woman and the words she spoke before she disappeared.
"When she departed, she mentioned she was heading to my sister's house. Nevertheless, she never arrived there. When my sister was informed that she had returned home, she attempted to search for her but couldn't find her," he said.

I also coordinated with other chiefs to ensure we worked collectively to find Cherotich," said Betty Koskei, the Chemalal assistant chief.
