Gombe Gov Unveils 16 New Vehicles for Judges, Boosting Judicial Power

The Gombe State Administration has improved the working capabilities of the state's judicial system by providing 16 new vehicles to High Court Judges and khadis from the Shari’a Court of Appeal, with the goal of boosting judicial effectiveness, movement, and organizational independence.
Introducing the vehicles, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya stated that the action reflected the government's genuine commitment to supplying necessary equipment for effective service provision across all branches of government.
On behalf of the Deputy Governor, Dr. Mannasah Daniel Jatau, he stated that this initiative aligns with the Government's strong commitment to establish a fair, adequately resourced, and completely self-reliant judicial system that can provide prompt and efficient services to the public.
The Governor mentioned that his administration has continuously addressed long-standing issues in every sector, as promised to the public, including current initiatives to resolve the accumulated gratuity debt and guarantee timely salary disbursements.
He stated, "The Government has fulfilled its role; as you can see, these vehicles are new 2025 models, and I call on the recipients to use them only for official purposes. It is now up to the recipients to demonstrate this investment through better performance."
Previously, the Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, Mal. Muhammad Gambo Magaji, stated that the state government purchased 16 new vehicles for all Judges and khadis, along with the Chief Judge and Grand Khadi, at a cost exceeding N2 billion.
The Commissioner highlighted that this marks the first time in over ten years that the judiciary has been allocated new official vehicles, referring to the action as a significant enhancement to judicial independence and efficiency.
In his comments, the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Barr. Zubair Muhammad Umar, referred to the action as the realization of a longstanding promise to restructure the justice system.
He highlighted the ongoing development of the over N16 billion state-of-the-art High Court building as additional proof of the government's dedication.
He stated that numerous judicial personnel had not replaced their vehicles for over 12 years, even though a four-year replacement schedule was required.
"Based on the quality and level of the vehicles offered, it is evident that His Excellency has kept his promise in a manner that appropriately matches the ranks of our judicial officers," he stated.
The Attorney General mentioned that four years ago, the newly appointed Judges and Khadis were provided with official vehicles right after their swearing-in, highlighting that the recent action demonstrates the government's dedication to replacing these facilities on schedule according to the established four-year cycle.
Additionally, the Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Gombe Chapter, Barr. Zubairu Alhassan, commended the Governor for the remarkable act directed towards the judiciary.
He pointed out that providing vehicles demonstrates respect for the rule of law and a dedication to improving the administration of justice throughout the state.
Various beneficiaries responded, with the Chief Registrars of the High Court and the Shari’a Court of Appeal expressing deep gratitude to Governor Inuwa Yahaya for his ongoing support of the judiciary.
They observed that providing official vehicles would significantly enhance movement, efficiency, and the general administration of justice throughout the state.
"His Excellency has consistently stepped in at the appropriate moment. Many of our requests have been granted, and this much-anticipated supply of vehicles will significantly improve the delivery of justice throughout the state. We pledge to the government that these vehicles will be utilized responsibly," they stated.
Since taking office in 2019, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has continuously shown a firm dedication to ensuring the smooth and effective operation of all three branches of government by offering them favorable conditions to carry out their constitutional responsibilities.
