A short-term rental platform named Sonder initiated a 'Chapter 7 liquidation' on Monday after the conclusion of an agreement with the hotel corporation Marriott.
Later, many customers discovered that their future hotel reservations were canceled, while others were requested to vacate their hotels before the end of their stays.

As of November 12, the travel booking platform is providing visitors with an urgent reservation coupon.

An Irishman named John Behan had a reservation for November 21st.celebrating her 40th birthday, their 10-year wedding anniversary, and their son's 16th birthday alongside his British wife Alix.
He characterized the customer service at Marriott as 'rude, incorrect, and dissatisfying' in a message on X.
The family had reserved Sonder Henri on the 24th and on November 9, got a direct email stating it was canceled due to the circumstances.
"I believed it was clearly a joke, some form of deception," John said to the Daily Mail.
When he contacted Sonder's customer support, he received a message directing him to reach out to Marriott Bonvoy.
"What was more irritating was when we reached out to Marriott Bonvoy, they advised us to get in touch with Sonder," John explained.
Following the transfer of refund responsibility between Sonder and Marriott, John was instructed to contact his card issuer.
"It's somewhat of an odd situation they've created, truly a terrible one, as we now have flights reserved but no funds in my account to secure lodging," John remarked.
He is now seeking a reimbursement via his debit card and has reached out to his travel insurance company.
If he is unable to secure the money, John is seriously thinking about taking a loan from a relative in order to reserve a hotel. 'Even this seems challenging right now due to the high costs,' he mentioned.
