Osinbajo Leads Justice Summit in Kaduna

Former Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo (SAN, GCON) is set to lead the 10th House of Justice Summit and Orange Ball Banquet scheduled for Friday, November 28, 2025, at the Epitome Events Centre in Barnawa, Kaduna.
The yearly conference, with the theme "From Camps to Justice and Communities," aims to establish a plan for putting an end to the insecurity caused by the more than two-decade-long insurgency, by making sure the government focuses on providing justice to victims and relocating displaced individuals and groups throughout Nigeria.
The gathering will also include Prof. Dakas C.J. Dakas (SAN), the Chairman of the Nigerian Law Reform Commission, as the main speaker.
Other notable attendees at the event are the former Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa (rtd); the Senator from Kaduna South Senatorial District, Sen. Sunday Marshall Katung; and the Second Secretary at the British High Commission in Nigeria, Mr. David Snelling.
Ahead of the event, during a press conference held on Thursday in Kaduna, Gloria Ballason (Esq.), the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of the House of Justice, stated that the summit's theme highlights the pressing necessity for Nigeria to shift from humanitarian aid to sustainable justice and community rebuilding.
She stated, "This landmark event holds special importance as it occurs during a period when worries are increasing regarding foreign interference and national autonomy in addressing Nigeria's security challenges. Embracing the factual accounts of different types of insurgency and focusing on justice along with the reintegration of displaced individuals are essential measures for achieving genuine and enduring solutions."
Ballason highlighted that the ongoing violent disputes, especially in the North-East and North-West areas, have forced millions of Nigerians to flee their homes, resulting in devastated communities and those who remain facing extended periods of instability.
She stated, “In addition to providing food to camps and constructing shelters, there is a moral and constitutional duty to restore the dignity of victims through justice. We need to ask: who is ensuring justice for those whose lands have turned into battlefields, whose homes were destroyed, and whose families are still unaccounted for? This is the dialogue that this year’s summit aims to spark. The moment has come to rebuild the ruins and deliver justice.”
She revealed that the summit will gather policymakers, legal experts, defense and humanitarian professionals to assess current legal and institutional shortcomings and suggest practical structures for victim compensation, transitional justice, and community reintegration.
Ballason also disclosed that the event will include a panel discussion with participants from the National Human Rights Commission, the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, development organizations, and global partners.
A message from the House of Justice also mentioned that the Orange Ball Banquet, which typically marks the conclusion of the summit, will encourage cooperation among people promoting human rights, social justice, and community involvement throughout Africa.
She stated, "In a period when our country is facing security issues and displacement, projects such as this serve as a reminder that justice is not theoretical — it concerns individuals, responsibility, and restoring hope."
The involvement of Prof. Osinbajo and other notable figures highlights the increasing acknowledgment of justice-focused methods in peacebuilding within Nigeria's policy framework. Throughout his time as Vice President, Osinbajo was recognized for promoting the rule of law, judicial improvements, and human rights, especially via the Presidential Committee on the North-East Initiative (PCNI).
The Center for Justice, established in 2010, has continuously functioned as a community center focused on providing access to justice, promoting legal awareness, and supporting human rights. Throughout the years, its yearly conferences have attracted leading legal experts, legislators, advocates, and global collaborators who discuss pressing matters influencing Nigeria's democratic and societal progress.
