The head of the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board, Joshua Ifede, on Wednesday called on students throughout the state to focus on their academic work and steer clear of interruptions.
He encouraged them to create a respected future by leveraging teamwork focused on improving access to high-quality education within the state.
He emphasized again the state government's dedication to collaborating with business entities and generous individuals to continue advancing the education sector.
Ifede mentioned this while presenting 13,500 exercise books, 750 chairs and desks, and 200 cartons of Geisha products in Abeokuta. These items were donated by JFE Shoji Corporation and Kawasho Foods Corporation to students throughout the state.
He praised the food company for its ongoing support in shaping the future of Nigerian children, noting that its vision matches the state government's dedication to offering high-quality and accessible education.
He stated, "With this program, our respected partners have kindly contributed 500 chairs, 250 desks, and 13,500 branded 60-page exercise books, along with 200 boxes of Geisha products, to improve education and learning in schools throughout Ogun State."
This generous donation extends well beyond the supply of resources; it signifies a real commitment to the future of our children, who will be tomorrow's leaders. It is especially significant that this is the eighth straight time JFE Shoji Corporation and Kawasho Foods Corporation have supported Ogun SUBEB.

Speaking to the recipients, Ifede said, "To our beloved students, I encourage you to utilize these resources effectively. Take good care of your books and equipment, study hard, and keep making your parents, teachers, and Ogun State proud."
Expressing gratitude to the companies for their generosity, Ifede mentioned that their support had not only supplied furniture and educational resources but also boosted teachers' motivation, motivated students, and reignited hope for learning throughout the state.
At the event, Mr. Akira Yano, the Managing Director of Kawasho Foods Corporation, stated that the action was a component of the company's dedication to aiding the growth of the education field.
Yano stated, "Kawasho Foods shows significant interest in education, as we believe it has a positive link with economic growth and development. We have been supporting educational progress at different levels in Nigeria."
He stated that the contributions were included in the company's 2025 corporate social responsibility program, designed to assist specific schools within Ogun State.
Yano mentioned that while Kawasho Foods started its operations in Japan 114 years back, it entered Nigeria more than 70 years ago, thanking Nigerians for their ongoing support and customer loyalty.
A 2023 UNICEF study highlights that Nigeria's educational framework encounters multiple difficulties, such as a significant number of children not attending school — more than 10 million between the ages of 5 and 14 — along with poor graduation rates.
Although primary school enrollment is approximately 88 percent and literacy levels achieved 77.62 percent in 2021, numerous children, especially in rural northern regions, continue to miss fundamental skills because of poverty, inadequate facilities, and societal-cultural obstacles.
