RDF Leader Calls for Digital Upgrades in African Military Academies
The head of the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF), General Mubarakh Muganga, has urged African military academies to enhance their digital educational facilities and strengthen cross-border collaboration.
At the official conclusion of the 19th African Conference of Commandants (ACoC), which took place in Kigali from November 10 to 12, Muganga stated that the future of military education across Africa relies on innovation and cooperation.
"The results of this conference, including the approved guidelines, structures, and decisions, should not stay confined to paper. They need to be turned into real-world actions within our individual organizations," he stated.
Let us pledge to carry out the suggestions that have been approved, to fund digital educational infrastructure, and to enhance our collaboration beyond national boundaries.

A three-day gathering united leaders in military education from throughout the continent, aiming to enhance collaboration among African command and staff colleges. The conversations focused on alignment, uniformity, and the development of exchange programs for students and instructors, all intended to support the ACoC's goal of fostering high-quality military training and education.
The gathering ended with Rwanda transferring the ACoC Chairmanship to Tanzania for a period of twelve months.
In his acceptance speech, Maj. Gen. Stephen Mnkande, the Commandant of the Tanzania People's Defence Force Command and Staff College, committed to maintaining ACoC's high standards and encouraging the exchange of knowledge among member institutions, as well as fostering cooperation during his time in office.
Considering Rwanda's tenure as Chair of the ACoC, Brig Gen Andrew Nyamvumba, the Commandant of the RDF Command and Staff College, stated that the meeting highlighted Africa's collective dedication to promoting professional military education throughout the continent.
"Our time in office has been driven by a straightforward and essential goal, to enhance the ties of cooperation between our organizations and to promote the alignment of our training and principles," Nyamvumba stated.
He observed that Rwanda's leadership emphasized promoting discussion, exchanging effective methods, and improving compatibility between African armed forces to reinforce the African Standby Force.
"Although we are proud of the advancements achieved, the mission of ACoC is an ongoing relay, a race we undertake collectively, passing the baton to maintain momentum," he added.
Nyamvumba showed belief in Tanzania's leadership, praising the nation's expertise and dedication to promoting military excellence across Africa.
"Tanzania offers a wealth of experience and a strong dedication to military excellence in Africa. We are confident that, with their guidance, the ACoC Troika will keep growing, making new progress and advancing our shared goals with creativity and energy," he stated.
He emphasized Rwanda's complete backing for the new Chair, mentioning that the RDF Command and Staff College is prepared to collaborate and assist in the common objective.
