Ryanair unveils first day of major rule shift

Yesterday marked the implementation of Ryanair's highly anticipated new policy, impacting travel for its flights.

Starting on November 12, Ryanair passengers will onlyuse digital boarding passes.

Ryanair has delivered a two-word response after the initial day under the new regulations: "Massive achievement."

Ryanair stated that by 1pm the previous day, over 700 flights had taken off across Europe without experiencing any delays or issues.

The airline mentioned that 98 percent of travelers showed their digital boarding pass (DBP).

In the meantime, the remaining 2 percent – everyone who had completed online check-in before reaching the airport – received complimentary boarding passes at the airport's ticket counters.

Ryanair's statement mentioned: 'The customer response was entirely favorable as travelers used their phones to pass through airport security and boarding checkpoints.'

No passengers were removed, and in cases where one or two had an issue with their phone, they were easily reboarded since the boarding gates already had their information from online check-in.

Ryanair's head of marketing, Dara Brady, stated: "So far, the first day of Ryanair’s DBP has been a major success, with over 700 flights and more than 100,000 travelers experiencing the enhanced service and improved experience of paperless check-in at Ryanair airports."

We project that our DBP program will result in annual savings of up to €40 million (£35.3 million), which will enable us to reduce ticket costs and enhance the competitiveness of air travel for Ryanair's passengers.

It follows that travelers have been informed about the updated regulations and the possible repercussions for not adhering to them.

The updated regulation was anticipated to create challenges for individuals without mobile devices.

Over 2.06 million individuals in the UK who are over the age of 55 lack one of these convenient devices, as reported by MoneySuperMarket.

This represents approximately 10 percent of the age group.

Consequently, numerous senior travelers worried they might encounter difficulties with digital-only boarding tickets.

The updated regulation has sparked debate, as numerous travelers have voiced worries about older passengers who might not own a smartphone.

With the introduction of new boarding regulations, British travelers are being advised to avoid mistakes that could result in a significant charge.

Airport counters will no longer provide the service of printing them, which previously cost £55.

Michael O’Leary, the head of Ryanair, stated that between 85 and 90 percent of the airline's 200 million yearly passengers were already utilizing digital passes prior to the implementation of the new regulation.

Starting from now, you must check in prior to arriving at the airport to obtain your boarding pass.
