John Swinneyhas been called upon to apologize for his involvement in theSNPHis poorly handled reaction to the Covid pandemic.
The leader of the Scottish Government is being urged to clarify his role in the administration's shortcomings during the pandemic, when he served as deputy leader and education minister.

The phone calls arrived as mourning families criticized the SNP leadership for being "too slow to respond" following revelations that the pandemic was treated as "any other matter" within her cabinet.
The Scottish group of families affected by Covid stated that it was evident from the virus's movement throughout Europe that 'something dreadful' was coming to Scotland in February 2020.
Yet Nicola Sturgeonand Mr. Swinney did not address it with the urgency it required.
Tory MSP Murdo Fraser, the spokesperson for his party on Covid recovery, stated: 'Families who have lost loved ones due to Covid will be rightly angry if John Swinney does not address questions regarding the inquiry's report as soon as possible in Parliament.'
Having previously disgracefully erased his WhatsApp messages from the time of the pandemic, it would be profoundly offensive if he failed to provide a formal apology to those who lost family members.
He played a central role in the SNP administration and was accountable for choices that led to severe outcomes when the virus emerged.
We have become accustomed to senior SNP members not being open and eager to escape examination, but that is not possible in this case for the First Minister.
The 800-page report by Baroness Hallet sharply criticized Boris Johnson's disorganized handling of the pandemic at Downing Street.
However, she also criticized Ms. Sturgeon for pushing her cabinet to the sidelines, making unrecorded decisions within a "Gold Command" group, and eroding transparency.
She also stated that the former Foreign Secretary's unrealistic strategy to eradicate Covid in Scotland was "inappropriate and bound to fail," considering the open border with England.
Just before the report was released, Anas Sarwar, leader of Scottish Labour, urged Mr Swinney to issue an apology for the SNP Government's errors and for removing WhatsApp messages that were supposed to be part of the Inquiry's evidence.
Mr. Swinney conveyed 'sincere condolences' to those who had lost family members and stated he was sorry for the pain endured, but did not offer an apology.
Deputy Dame Jackie Baillie from Scottish Labour stated: 'The report released by the UK Covid-19 Inquiry has now clearly shown that John Swinney and Nicola Sturgeon concentrated authority and took significant decisions without consulting the Scottish Cabinet.'
John Swinney might wish to shift responsibility and proceed as if he had no role in the significant shortcomings of the SNP throughout the pandemic.
However, unlike his WhatsApp messages, he is unable to erase the proof and act as if his hands were not involved in this situation. He now needs to confess.
The leader of the government should address the Parliament after this report is released and ultimately provide the apology that those affected by the Scottish Government's actions during the pandemic deserve.
Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Alex Cole-Hamilton stated: 'There is no question that the First Minister must face Parliament to explain his choices.'
I hope he will utilize his time to put an end to the culture where important meetings occurred without the presence of civil servants and where WhatsApp messages regarding critical decisions were erased.
Members of the grieving family have been permanently deprived of insight into the reasoning behind critical life-and-death choices made by SNP ministers.
Choices made here often differed from those in other parts of the UK, occasionally leading to devastating outcomes. I believe the public deserves explanations for why this occurred.
In her report, Baroness Hallett pointed out that Covid was mentioned only under "any other business" in a Scottish cabinet meeting as late as February 25, 2020, even though there was a severe increase in cases in Italy during that month.
She mentioned that Ms Sturgeon and Mr Swinney, as First Minister and Deputy First Minister, should have understood that by that point it was "the most urgent matter" confronting the Scottish Government.
However, February 2020 was a 'month lost' for the UK and devolved governments' reactions, and their 'lack of urgency' and failure to implement emergency measures was 'unforgivable,' she stated.
Margaret Waterton, whose 86-year-old mother passed away from Covid in June 2020, and who participated in the Inquiry as part of the Scottish Covid Bereaved group, stated to BBC Radio Scotland that she could grasp Ms Sturgeon's argument that Covid was a 'completely unprecedented event'.
But she continued, "It's regarding the urgency of the choices being made."
There is evidence in the Scottish Government's report about discussions on Covid during other business in February 2020, while we were at home watching footage from Italy and other European countries.
So we were aware that something dreadful was heading our way, and they were just delayed in taking action.
On Thursday, Ms. Sturgeon justified her actions, stating that she had been taking the lead, and refuted claims that her cabinet was simply a 'rubber stamp' for the decisions of her close associates.
However, Ms. Waterton stated that the lack of Gold Command minutes meant 'you have no idea who is saying what, how decisions were made, and what the opposing viewpoints were.'
Ms. Sturgeon chose not to respond.
The office of the First Minister was requested to provide a statement.
A representative from the Scottish Government stated that their "complete attention during the pandemic was directed towards safeguarding the residents of Scotland."
