Why I Chose GWR for My Vision Boards – Dr Shogo

A peak performance coach and leadership advisor, Oluwashogo Oyeniyi, widely recognized as Dr Shogo, claims he initiated an effort to establish a Guinness World Record for the largest number of people creating vision boards at the same time—both virtually and in one location—to change worldwide views about Nigeria and Africa.

He stated that the initiative was not solely focused on breaking a record but also on confronting established stories by showing that Africans are able to turn concepts into real accomplishments.

Oyeniyi organized a Guinness World Records event on November 1, aiming to achieve the record for the largest number of individuals creating vision boards simultaneously, both in person and online.

The in-person gathering took place at The Podium, Lekki, Lagos State, centered around the theme "Dream It. Plan It. Live It."

As per the Guinness World Records website, 445 individuals took part.

In an interview with Saturday PUNCH, Oyeniyi mentioned that the event aimed to raise awareness regarding the significance of vision boards in attaining individual and group objectives.

He mentioned that his motivation for breaking the record came from a belief that Africa—particularly Nigeria—possesses a large amount of unused potential.

Breaking the record served as a means to spread that message worldwide and show that Africans, specifically Nigerians, are not merely dreamers but individuals capable of turning concepts into real achievements.

"It wasn't only about the record; it was a movement aimed at inspiring new ways of thinking throughout the continent. It's surprising how many people aren't aware of what a vision board is. I realized this while preparing for the event. However, we have increased awareness, as I wanted more people to understand the impact of vision boards," he stated.

Oyeniyi mentioned that the category was not present prior to his effort.

"We didn't merely break a record; we established one. It was the pioneer in its category globally. The record has turned into a national source of inspiration—a demonstration that excellence can still be achieved from Nigeria," he stated.

The trainer mentioned that getting attendees involved was achievable due to many years of establishing a solid connection through his role as a top performance specialist.

As a specialist in peak performance, I have dedicated many years to educating and guiding individuals. I have conducted training sessions for companies and provided personal coaching. We integrated all these networks, utilizing the credibility and trust that the brand has established over time.

"The attendees weren't just there for an occasion; they were part of a vision that embodies growth, belief, and the strength of group change. It was a smooth combination of technological advancement, emotional awareness, and leadership collaboration," he mentioned.

Oyeniyi mentioned that his long-term objective is to assist governments, educational institutions, and companies in utilizing vision creation as a means of fostering development, enhancing efficiency, and promoting progress.

"When people and organizations learn to observe before taking action, they ensure their efforts are in line with their goals. This is my broader vision. It marks the start of a new movement. My aim is straightforward yet deep—to assist individuals and institutions in transitioning from intention to tangible outcomes, and from vision to measurable results," he stated.
