Ray Hadley's young granddaughter has returned to the hospital following a severe relapse in her condition.cancer battle, the SydneyLegendary radio host and his family have been disclosed.

Only weeks ago, the family was marking the recovery of four-year-old Lola after a significant advancement in her leukemia treatment.

Now, their sole desire is for Lola to return home beforeChristmasfollowing her recent chemotherapy-related issues.

Physicians at Newcastle's John Hunter Children's HospitalLola was diagnosed with veno-occlusive disease (VOD), a severe liver disorder that may develop following intensive chemotherapy.

Laura Clark, Hadley's daughter, expressed that her "ultimate Christmas wish" is to "have all my children with me, happy and healthy."

"Material possessions no longer hold any significance. Perspective is truly a gift we've been given, and our greatest hope is that she is back with us, along with her sisters and grandparents, simply surrounded by the family that loves her deeply," Ms. Clark said.Daily Telegraph. 

I once told our oncologist, 'what's the worst that could happen here,' and he replied, 'If we don't take control of this, she might not make it.'

Previously top-rated 2GB host Hadley stated: 'Another thing people fail to grasp is that after six months, they wonder if she's improved now.'

It will take at least two years, and throughout this entire journey, there will be high and low moments, which my daughter and son-in-law are dealing with, and they are handling it exceptionally well. So is this young girl; she is an inspiration to everyone.

It has been nearly a year since the typically lively and active Lola, who was three years old at the time, was urgently taken to the hospital.

Test results showed that Lola has leukemia and will require chemotherapy – a condition that affects 280 Australian children annually, as reported by the Children's Cancer Institute.

Even though Hadley has spent many years assisting other ill children during his long career, nothing could have readied him for the sorrow of witnessing his own grandchild afflicted with the severe blood disorder.

The family's morale improved in May when they learned that Lola had reacted positively to chemotherapy, although the doctors cautioned that the coming year of treatment would be challenging.

The most recent diagnosis was made only a week ago, following Lola's periods of extreme tiredness, spending most of her time sleeping, and experiencing ongoing discomfort.

Her mother characterized the past two and a half weeks as the most difficult since Lola's diagnosis, serving as a clear reminder that you're never completely safe.

"I truly can't express the pain and helplessness a parent experiences when they can't save their child and are left with nothing to do but wait and hope the medication takes effect," said Ms. Clark.

Lola is currently showing a positive response to treatment and will officially kick off the holiday season at John Hunter Children's Hospital on Monday by lighting its Christmas tree.

She managed to exit her room and view the tree for the first time on Friday — an event that brought great happiness to the young patient and her family.

Hadley acknowledges he is still "deeply concerned" and feels powerless regarding Lola's future.

"I feel powerless, it's up to the oncologists and specialists," Hadley said.

You experience moments of success and failure, and what we've learned as a family is to not become overly excited by the highs or too discouraged by the lows, because there will always be a period of difficulty along the way.

Lola's difficulty occurs just weeks following Hadley's arrival of his eighth grandchild.

His youngest daughter, Sarah, welcomed her second child, a daughter named Indy Ray, last month.
