Kanye West Faces Immediate Arrest in Brazil Over Pro-Nazi Comments
Kanye "Ye" West is set to travel to São Paulo at the end of this month, where he might be arrested right away.
According to Metropoles, the São Paulo State Public Prosecutor's Office is said to have ordered that the American rapper be arrested if he makes any pro-Nazi comments, "offers any kind of defense for Nazism" during his performance, or performs hiscontroversial song ‘Heil Hitler’during the event, set to occur on 29 November.
Nobody promoting Nazism will perform or sing any lyrics on public equipment owned by City Hall," said São Paulo Mayor Ricardo Nunes. "We will take all necessary actions to ensure that no one advocating Nazism engages in any kind of activity within the city of São Paulo.
The organizers of Ye's event, Guilherme Cavalcante and Jean Fabrício Ramos, are also said to be at risk of being arrested if Ye behaves improperly.
That's assuming the concert takes place, as a location has not been confirmed yet.
The performance was initially set to occur at the Interlagos racetrack, and this location has already been withdrawn due to Ye's well-documented anti-Semitic statements.
Ye was previously banned from X and Instagram due to hate speech. He had previouslyidentified as a Nazi and his antisemitic commentshave occurred frequently over the years.
This year alone, he has created ashocking series of anti-Semitic postings, which featured remarks such as "I love Hitler" and "I'm a Nazi." He also faced criticism for selling a white t-shirt adorned with a prominent swastika symbol on the front — an item labeled "HH-01" on his site, referencing the "Heil Hitler" slogan.
Following the sharing of a KKK image, the rapper was stopped by his talent agency and subsequently blocked from entering Australia.
He has been attempting to move past all of that recently - when he's notretracting his apologies to the Jewish community.
He recently met with a well-known New York rabbi called Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto, in an effort to "accept responsibility" for the harm he has done.
He showed regret and mentioned that his bipolar disorder -a conclusion he has previously denied- made him retaliate against the Jewish population.
"I was facing several challenges related to bipolar disorder, which would take the thoughts I had and push them to an extreme, causing me to neglect the safety of those around me or myself," said Ye.
The rabbi, via a translator, referred to Ye as "a very good man" and then posted an online statement that said: "A person is not defined by their mistakes, but by how they choose to correct them. This is the real strength of humanity: the ability to return, to learn, and to build bridges of love and peace."
The Independentemphasized that Pinto is a well-known personality among stars in Israel and has connections toBenjamin Netanyahu. The report also mentioned that he was found guilty of bribery in Israel and spent a year in prison in 2015.
