Up-and-coming content creator Lenny Vybzz, whose real name is Linus Kilplimo, has shared insights into his impressive path to achievement in the world of content creation.

Only 22 years old, Lenny has gained widespread recognition due to his humorous sketches, which frequently include his signature sound, 'Naitwa Isael Korir', commonly seen on For You Pages on various social media platforms.

How did Lenny come to find his love for humor?

In a special conversation withokay1.co.ke, Lenny shared that he first realized his comedic ability during his second year of high school.

At the time, he admired industry heavyweights like Crazy Kennar and dreamed of creating skits similar to his.

I used to admire him and had seen nearly all of his sketches. That's when I told myself that I wanted to create sketches like his once I joined campus," he said.

Lenny kept his promise by enrolling at Cooperative University in 2021 to study Software Engineering, during which he started exploring his interest in content creation.

He started treating the craft with more seriousness, even though his initial work did not immediately draw the wide audience he has now.

What is Lenny's most well-known sketch?

One of Lenny's notable sketches features him imitating President William Ruto.

He described how, during the 2024 Gen Z Anti-Finance Bill protests, he and his friends came up with methods to inform people about the bill.

One concept included him donning the president's iconic hat to impersonate Ruto, a sketch that rapidly gained significant attention.

Nevertheless, Lenny mentioned that his financial success was achieved through a different sketch released in October 2024, in which he portrayed a Kalenjin man.

As he stated, that video marked his major breakthrough, drawing in sponsorship opportunities and elevating his career to higher levels.

Talking about his method of creation, Lenny mentioned that it isn't hard for him because he frequently uses real-life scenarios and transforms them into humorous sketches.

"I frequently take real-world scenarios and convert them into humorous content. Simple daily exchanges can become skits when you understand what resonates," he mentioned.

What obstacles has Lenny encountered along the way?

As with numerous content creators, Lenny has also encountered obstacles along his path to achievement.

In September 2024, he and his friends were taken into custody while shooting a movie scene that included fake gun props, after a bystander mistaken the toys for real guns and alerted the authorities.

Approximately four members of the armed police arrived at the residence, insisting that we present the actual firearms. They detained us, capturing images of us holding the guns and wearing handcuffs, and transported us to the police station. We were released after several hours with no charges filed, Lenny remembered.

He mentioned that following the incident, he has steered clear of comparable sketches to avoid such occurrences.

Financial limitations also create difficulties. Lenny mentioned that certain videos demand substantial funding.

He also remembered a specific event where he spent more than KSh 10,000 to create a one-minute sketch.

Although being a content creator involves the possibility of encountering online negativity, Lenny mentioned that he has learned to turn the criticism into drive.

"When you don't have any critics, it means you're not making an impact, but if you do, realize that you're doing something right and others are taking notice," he explained.

"Stay consistent and never stop. Creating content is like a bus, with each person having their own passengers. Keep moving forward, pray to God, and remember that consistency always surpasses talent," he advised those who want to become creators.
